Spring Break 2014 |
For 12 days over Spring break, I returned to Rome as a part of an Italian Humanism and Renaissance course.
In addition to classes where we studied "women in medieval and early humanistic literature by men who used them as objects of their artistic works," we travelled around Tuscany and Rome to see these artistic representations in person. It wasn't all fun and games though...we were also allotted free time to wander around the cities and go out drinking. It was definitely special to experience Rome with a group of people who have never been there before. I was more than eager to lead the way Other cities include: Florence, Siena, San Sepolcro, Monterchi, Arezzo, Assisi, Cortona

A quick, weekend trip with my lovely roommates from Milan, Lauren & Mariah. We spent our nights at the Macao Rooms and spent our days revisiting my favorite places in my home away from home. A day trip to Ostia beach was also included. Some of the best Roman ruins are just outside the city of Rome. Though we went to Ostia Antica for the beach, it is also where the second best ruins are in Italy (first being Pompeii). The best way to get to there is by a local train, which leaves from the Piramide station, and takes about 30 minutes. After getting off at Ostia Antica's station, use the blue footbridge to cross the road and walk down Via della Stazione di Ostia Antica until you see an entrance on your left. Two more stops on the train to Ostia Lido and you can walk through town to the the local beaches (some of them free).
